**WARNING: pointless rant ahead, because I take things too seriously. **

Well, on another site (I won't say which one), I made a comment on a picture someone made about mental disorders (talking about how people with MI can't just "snap out of it" or "get over it" etc). Someone made a really rude comment saying something along the lines of "My illness is worse than yours etc etc". They were saying how they had pyromania etc. I made a comment (I probably worded it wrong, I was really angry that day) saying how loads of people have problems and many are worse off etc. Then I said about my troubles (psychosis/schizophrenia, ocd and depression) I don't even know why I did but everyone else was. Anyway, this other idiot replied to me telling me "LOL, you don't have schizo. Stop saying BS and saying you "know all". Excuse me? I don't even know who you are?! Who are you to say my problems don't exist? Even though my teachers, parents, friends, doctors, psychosis intervention team are all concerned? Seriously, where do some people get their degrees in psychology? I don't wear it like a freaking badge, but I am not afraid to stand up to people who seem to think others' problems are nothing. I mean, just because I don't talk like some kid using text-speech and have insight that means that I'm a fake? I actually laughed. Not every schizophrenic spend all of their time crouched in a dark corner rocking back and forth, unable to make a single sentence. You can't see it in me until I tell you of the things I experience, and I usually don't (except on this site) because I know people like THIS unfortunately exist, keeping this awful stigma alive.

I probably shouldn't have gotten involved, this just proves how some people think of the mentally ill. We are apparently "fakers" and not mentally ill OR schizophrenic unless locked up in residential facilities.

I know it was really pointless in writing this, I'm just so angry at the moment.

*punches pillow*

PS, if I said I had a physical disease, I bet money this would not have happened.

Probably would be a good idea to stay off that site. There is a LOT of junk out there in cyberspace, and you have to learn what to stay away from.
Thanks for this!

You're probably right, but I love that site. It's a shame some have to ruin it.

The level of ignorance on the internet will always be high, especially on MI, and unfortunately it doesn't seem like there's much we can do about, except for keeping this site going strong.

It's always a competition... You mention any MI and someone will have it worse.

I am sorry you had to put up with that. People can be so ignorant. I think mental illness scares them so they don't know what to do but bad mouth it and put it down. You are much more intelligent with mi then they will ever be. Don't you forget that! Don't let their stupidity get you mad they are not worth your time.

She/he/it then went on to tell me that "I don't have any problems in my life" and "I'm proud of it". Where did she get her psychology degree?

I suffer from psychosis (I'm schizophrenic as well) and honestly people say stuff like that because they do not understand. They have no idea how scary it is to have an illness like this. I'm fine one moment but the next I'm wrapped up in psychosis and a danger to myself. Plus no matter who you are there is someone out there who's having it worse.

If you are broke
-at least roof over my head
If you are homeless
-at least I have food
If you are starving
-at least I'm alive
and well if you're dead that just depends on ones religious beliefs.

To argue who has it worse is like men comparing who has the larger genitals. It's pointless. Instead of arguing who has it worse, you're better off finding ways to help yourself and/or others.
