It it normal to feel a little strange and awkward around someone you haven't seen or heard from in a while? A girl came up to me in work today and I hadn't spoke to her in ages, and it's not like we didn't get on well before, because we got on great, but I just felt really awkward and I didn't really know what to say to her

Is this normal? I just felt like a bit of a freak

I think it is normal if you are normally a little shy. However, all you have to do is say "Hey! Hello, how are you? I haven't seen you in awhile, what's new with you!?"

It sounds like anxiety. There are a lot of people here with experience with anxiety, I hope you get some good pointers from them. I think you did the right thing in speaking to her and I don't think you are a freak.

I think it's a normal response. I feel the same way when I haven't talked to someone in a while.

Of course it's normal! I get nervous before going to parties with people I know! HAHA! Glad I'm not the only one...

Yeah, when I haven't seen someone in a while, I get pretty anxious. Usually it turns out to be not that big of a deal, but that doesn't stop my heart from beating like crazy.

Give yourself a break, love. You're not a freak. You're human.
