My sister is a hairdresser and I'm back home visiting from Japan for a week. I asked her last week before I arrived if she could do my hair for me. She said ok. Then I asked her again in person when I arrived and she said that she could go in on Friday on her day off to do it.
Thursday night rolled around and I asked her what time to go in tomorrow. She said she wasn't sure because she had to get her flat tire fixed. She got her tire fixed in the morning and when I talked to her she said she didn't have a time set aside at the salon and there were no openings. I was under the impression that she had set aside a time for me. I was a little disappointed at her unreliability. I told my mom and dad what I felt and my mom just went ahead and called her salon and set up an appointment for me without consulting my sister. I called my sister to let her know that mom did this, and my sister said that she had wanted to talk to the salon herself the next morning...but that seems too late to me. I feel like she would have just kept putting it off and I would never have gotten my appointment with her. My sister also said that she doesn't make any money off of Saturday appointments so she would rather have done it on Sunday. But she didn't tell me that when I talked to her this morning. I kind of want to tell her that I feel like she was being unreliable and just looking out for herself. She's really sensitive to criticism especially from family so I don't know how she'll take it. But at the same time I want to break out of the pattern of not saying anything when I feel offended. |

Why are you afraid of your sister? Just confront her and remind her that she had PROMISED to do your hair!! Tell her you'll only be here a WEEK and for heavens sakes, she can at LEAST work you in to do your hair -- you're going back to Japan, and she won't have to "deal" with you (if that's how she sees it) for who knows HOW long!!!
She's being pretty snotty if you ask me. What's her problem, anyway? Is she jealous of you or something? Doing your hair isn't THAT big of a deal. Heck, she could do it AT HOME, for that matter!!! Why is she making such a big deal out of it? Stand up to her, and MAKE her fulfill her promise. If SHE doesn't want to do it, have her have one of the OTHER girls in the salon do your hair!!! But your hair needs to be done! She's a real SNOT. Just my opinion. ![]()
