hello, is there anyone out there who can help me, or give me any advice?
I have a boyfriend who was arrested last week for exposure and i found out that a year ago he was also arrested (he never told me) for voyeurism.
I have doubts about where this will lead to; if he's capable of doing worse things than this, and this is already pretty terrifying! I love him and I knew, sort of, that there were things not right, but I don't want to lose him because i believe he's ill, but my family tells me to drophim and my friends think he's scum...help me

Well, you certainly have my sympathy and I hope you can find a solution that you will be happy with. I can't tell you what to do with your life. Maybe you might want to see a counselor for help with dealing with this situation. Other than that I'm at a loss for words so I'll just add good luck. Of course you can always keep on coming here for support and for a place to write more on it, too. That's a tough situation there.

Your boyfriend may be ill, but he is the only one who can seek treatment for his illness. You only mentioned two times that he has been caught acting on his compulsion. Has he done anything that makes you think he really wants to seek treatment and change his behavior? It is admirable that you want to help him, but you must also think of your own well-being. I'm sure that is what is foremost in the minds of your friends and family who are encouraging you to leave him. If he is continues to act on his compulsions, you could end up being very hurt.

I had a relative that was married to a man who had epilepsy. This was a long time ago, before the disease was well-controlled, and this man had severe behavior problems associated with it, which caused him to be physically abusive with my relative. Well, in spite of his behavior being due to an illness, my relative's life was in danger if she continued to live with him, so she had to leave him. To help someone who is ill is admirable, but you cannot always help an ill person, and putting yourself in harm's way doesn't do anyone any good.

Whatever you decide, you can come here and find support. Good luck.
