Since I am not getting responses, I am opening a new thread. The guy whom I invited to celebrate my b-day with me asked me what I wanted for a present, and I have no idea what would be an appropriate response. I am just at my wit's end. I have known him as a friend for 12 years and have just recently started sleeping with him. He is very nice, tactful, and caring.

Not a physical present, but perhaps what he could do for the two of you is to plan a special day together. Maybe go to a place that means a lot to him, or go on an adventure together! Take some kind of fun class, picnic in the park, walk around a lake, something like that?

Sounds good. I will suggest a visit to SFMOMA, I guess. That is the only thing that comes to my mind now.

You could try the generic "Just having you here is present enough."

Or if he's been giving you a hard time about anything ask for a birthday wish then wish that he'd just lay off X for a certain period of time so that you can deal with X in your own way.

Or you could ask for some lingerie or body paints or anything sensual that the two of you could share. Plus it would be a present for him too

Hope one of those helps at least a a little. BTW Happy Birthday

Happy birthday!!

And I can see why the fella wants to spoil you, ingalot too. Why not just say 'Surprise me' and leave it up to them to make a choice? More romantic that way too1

I see all the points made. In terms of sensual, I can ask him for handcuffs and an eye mask or whatever it is called because this is something I have never tried and would be willing to try. Hopefully that would be a present for him too. In terms of spoiling, I could ask to take me to a ballet performance at SF ballet which is something I would love but cannot afford on my own. But there probably is not a show exactly on my birthday.

Thank you for the responses and good wishes on my birthday!

Well, I said that for now I am not sure, still thinking, and for later this:http://www.sfballet.org/tickets/prod...inderella-2013 - one of my favorite ballets. So my question remains - what tasteful sensual present is appropriate?
