Its hard.. but my suggestions are either let it go or go to talk to your dad about it all. He may not be aware he's doing it, and have a rethink how he treats you. Or if you don't have the kind of dad that you can talk to, or one that doesn't listen, then you have to try and let it wash over you.
I am not a believer of people having to change to meet other people's unreasonable expectations. If you are trying your best then what else can you give? If you never get the pride you want from your father, this shouldn't reflect on your own views of yourself, as these are more your father's issues than yours. You are who you are, and you should be proud of it. I hope it makes sense. I am very tired writing this, and I am rubbish at grammar! I had similar with my father, but he just used to say I was useless and only good for getting married and having children. He laughed at me throughout all of my choices in my life, for example, when I got accepted at uni at the age of 23, and didn't think I was seriously thinking of going as it was a waste of time etc. |

You should start to write down the reasons he should be proud of you. And be proud of yourself for them! I bet you have done some incredible things in your life. Thats amazing you saved your best friend
