Adam, find out if your state is such a state. What if you want to buy a car or a house in the future? Know your situation in advance; avoid unpleasant surprises.

My state is not a community property state. I also did not cosign, and the loans were before we got married. I've talked to her and said she needs to find work immediately. She put some applications out last week. Hopefully she can find work. Her payment is $460 a month. She has a little over a month to find work.

We won't be able to purchase anything together, but as long as I don't cosign with her it doesn't affect my credit that much except for big things like buying a home. Not sure what to do about that.
