She has three young children, the first two taken away from her for drug addiction. The second infant was removed from her care because of crack addiction. Now she has had a third child, an infant, and she's posting provocative pictures of herself on FB. She lives in TX and is not near me. Not married, nor working, she is involved with a man who has beaten her...is some kind of criminal. I confronted her last night on FB telling her she needs to stop advertising herself on FB (pics like a porn star) and focus on taking care of her infant. She's also posting about how bad the man is treating her...blah, blah, blah. I am thinking the infant has already been removed from her "care." She "unfriended" me...no surprise.
I'm concerned for the baby, but that is the state of our culture! Narcissistic drug addicted girl having numerous children she has no intention of caring for. I'm a teacher and I see the result so such abandoned kids. |

((Seeker1950)) - you were brave for trying to confront her. Sadly if she's a drug addict, she's most likely dependent on this man and she'll need to hit rock bottom before she changes or if she ever does. I understand its frustrating since you love kids.

The article is about researchers who follow crack babies.
She might indeed be at fault for not taking care of her children. She would certainly be in a better position had she used birth control. Would not have produced the. Children she is unable to take care of. That, if the state of texas reacted to actual neglect of her children. It could be though that the state of texas was at fault for basing its actions on myths that have since been dispelled. So it is an unclear situation. |

You might indeed see the results being a teacher, but the researchers track the results as well. This is a well cited article from the nation's leading newspaper. If I were you and knew her email address, I would forward the article to her, adding that while you hope that she would overcome the addiction, get rid of the violent man, get a job or go to school, etc. Both for her sake and the sake of her children, and further hope that by improving her life she will eventually recover the custody of her older children, you also wanted to give her some hope that her children might not be as hdisadvntageous as previously thought. That would to me seem the compassionate thing to do.

As for posting provocative pics on fb, to the extent that you see it as a problem, this problem will soon self resolve without intervention. Untreated crack addiction will eventually make her look horrible so she would not have any assets to show off.

I would also search google or bing or yahoo images for "whitney houston cocaine", select the most hideous photo and send to your friend, without comments. Not that it has a high likelihood of being effective, but what you did was clearly not effective, so it cannot do any harm at this point to send her a scary image.
