So I'm 18 and my brother, whom we shall call J, is 17. He's always been stronger and faster than me, and now he's getting bigger. He's never physically bullied me, but he sometimes tells me that he wants to hurt me when we're arguing. He never does, and I seriously doubt he ever will. But verbally, he's always been cruel.
When we were kids it was nothing more than teasing and being a sore loser when he lost a game. Kid stuff. But as we get older, he's been less forgiving. He always tells me that I'm rude (which I am, though I'm not proud of it), and he pins all our arguments on me. Not long ago he called me "less than useless" just because I couldn't answer a question. He's told me repeatedly that I'm a very uncaring person, that I'm never going to get married, that I always have to have things my way, don't I? (the emphasis on those words reflects the way he says it) He's outright told me he doesn't like me, and that he wants to move to get away from me (or have me move away). But moving isn't currently an option for either of us. What do I do about all this?

Are your parents aware of this? I'd say avoid him like the plague and get busy with your own life. Be good. Living well is the best revenge.

I dont know if its your case but sibs sometimes fight as a normal process of establishing their own identities. It wouldnt surprise me at all that when you're in your 30's you become best friends. It still sucks having to deal with it right now. I like what hermit said. Living well is the best revenge.

Our parents have had to put up with us fighting for so long that they don't want to hear about it.
