Sooo I got divorced several years back; it was my decision to end it. We were able to be quite amicable once he got over being hurt. He is now remarried and has a kid. I am very happy for him and if I were to run into him I would truly be like "Hey how are you??" like an old friend.
He wouldn't let me give the engagement ring back (or the band) although I tried 3 times. (He's very successful in his job, so it's not like he needs it back for monetary reasons.) The engagement ring I had specially made and designed it myself...I LOVE jewelry. I have thought about selling the set of course, but my father said since I don't NEED the money yet to hold on to it, so it's been kept locked away. But I have gone and looked at it recently...and I don't see our marriage (which was short) when I look at the ring, I see a beautiful piece of jewelry I designed. I know I don't want the ring taken apart EVER (that horrifies me) and made into a necklace or something. So, has anyone ever worn their ex-engagement ring on their right hand just as a ring and gotten away with it? ![]() ![]() |

If you love it do it...you don't need to explain to anyone but expect them to ask...it's normal too ask about a beautiful piece of jewelry...just say its custom.

Absolutely, go ahead and wear it! It doesn't mean "marriage" anymore -- it's a beautiful piece of jewelry.
And it's YOURS. i don't know why you even ATTEMPTED to give it back to him because that's NOT what you do when you divorce! Most women sell the ring or keep it to give to their daughters later on. (yes, even in divorce cases). It was yours to KEEP. He should never get it back!!! So go ahead and wear it with pride -- you designed it, and it sounds beautiful. I'd wear it, for sure! God bless and take care. Hugs, Lee ![]()

I think too that you should wear it! It's even nicer that it has a positive history to it, and that you feel warm towards him even though your marriage didn't work. Doesn't happen that often, so I think you should wear it and enjoy it :-)
