I've noticed that over the past few years, I've lost contact with just about all of the friends I've had growing up. And I'm perfectly okay with that. My boyfriend is much more social than I am, over the past few years I've noticed that I've become much more introverted. He ALWAYS wants to have people over, and most of the time I just have no desire to be around people. I feel like I always say the wrong thing. I'm more socially awkward than ever, sometimes it's even with my own family. Like, I just don't know what to say to fill the silence...or I'm afraid I sound stupid. I'd just rather be alone.
I don't know if it has anything to do with my diminishing self confidence, or stress. Can anyone relate? |

i feel like i've been a loner my whole life, but actually i've had a few good friends . they have been worth keeping! i have neglected them a lot and i'm lucky to still have them. it's not easy to go out of your way to invite or visit occasionally, but it will be worth it. crippled

I don't consider myself a loner, but I am introverted. I have a few close friends, but I am not a party goer and big socializer. I can be alone for long periods without getting stressed about it.

Well, for me, it is just the way it was in my family. If you can't trust family, then who can you trust? I moved from city to city and circle of friends to circle of friends each time one or the other outgrowing the other. I had a cat for twenty years-that cat and I lasted longer than most of my contacts with other humans.
You are not alone with this situation of minimal amount of friends in real life.

Yeah I've always been a loner except for 2.5 years when I was 16-18 . . . and they turned out to be quite nasty towards me, so I don't count them as friends.

I'm an introvert, but I wouldn't call myself a loner.I'm a fan of people, but I prefer them to be in small groups.

![]() Me personally, I had friends at one point, but I guess I felt uncomfortable and pushed everyone away. Sometimes I regret it, sometimes I don't. I don't think I'll ever be a huge socializer - just based on my personality, regardless of my personal struggles. But I think I'd be happy with a couple solid friends and a partner.

They say, by the time you reach an elderly age, you'll be able to count your true friends on one hand.
I have acquaintances, I have people I can call when I need to talk, but having grown up, the way I grew up, I do tend to be more of a 'private' type of person. IRL. There are those in this world, that enjoy a little solitude, and then there are those that enjoy to be around many people. I prefer, smaller, social gatherings. I don't find you, as outside the normal realm of how people are. ![]() |

I am an introvert and don't like parties or social events. I tend to become quiet in those situations. I do like to have close friends though.

I'd say I've learned to be a loner cause I just don't have friends.

I don't know if I should call myself a loner but I have had people telling me that I am, which makes me want to act fast, like make friends quickly. I have learned that the more desperate one is, the less he/she will find it. That's only my experience, mind you.
Most of my life I've been alone. When I walked the school grounds, got home, went to school. I was always alone. Sometimes I complain about this, but what good would that do? Unfortunately, I'm just not as lucky as those who have someone "who knows how to love you without being told"Natasha bedingfield. To consider myself unlucky brings tears to my eyes. |
