Oh dear me... My son and his g/f bought two dogs. They both threw money in the pot to buy them.. Well the black pug bonded right off with my son...He goes nuts when my son isn't around.. The lil girl pug bonded with my son too. ... but i think the lil girl pug also bonded with his g/f....Anyway they broke up. She wants the black pug ... kind of typical of women... to try to take what their boyfriend loves... anyway... gosh this is like a divorce.. So who gets the dogs??????? and would their be "doggie" support payments.. lol....OMG.. makes me glad I am single....looks like the fighting may have just begun.......Guess I should be glad there aren't any kids involved... but dogs are a lot like kids...

If they have lived in your home and have their dog tags registred in the county in your or his name.....and if.......they are not purebreds registered to both of them, or the breeder, then you/HE by law would own the dogs. Make her sweat it.

What is in the dogs best intrest?

The lil girl pug is a purebred as she was rescued from a puppy mill.. Lil girl has some health issues with her eyes... and she is both male/female.. which really isn't a problem.. the vet said it was the first time he had ever seen such a thing in dogs.. lol I don't know if she was spaded or neutered... but anyway she is fixed.. She is such a sweet dog... loves to be loved she does..

Black pug is purebred too.. He is a brute lol... but loveable...

I think it would be in the dog's best interest to keep them together and to stay with my son.. You can't even take one for a walk without the other one... because if you try the dog you are trying to walk won't move.. lol He or she will just sit outside...won't budge until they see the other one.. lol... My son takes great care of them....My son told her she could take them both for a few nights a week or on weekends if she wants... and visit them anytime.. keeping fingers crossed they can work this out without turning into a big battle...

Oops I have a headache and didn't clarify when I said a purebred, I meant registered with the AKC?? When one registers a dog with the AKC they most often have all legal rights to said dog. Some breeders HOLD half the registration so the dog is co-owned with them... I don't know but if they are fighting I would allow her to visit them at your home but not to take them because who is to say she will return them? Take into consideration who pays for food and vet bills...who the vet KNOWS takes the dogs in and so on. I would act in the best intrest of the dogs not some silly girls whim

Umm they both buy the dog food and they both take them to the vet... they pretty much split the expenses... she buys all the doggie clothes.. lol... they have some real cute outfits too.. Who Gets The Dogs

I am not the homeowner here... I pretty much lost every thing I had.. sometimes I wish I had partied and had careless fun for being the reason i lost every thing instead of mental health being an issue.. Who Gets The Dogs i could have at least said I had fun and could justify my loss... Most would be rather surprised or shocked about my living arrangements.. lol... but me lips r sealed... anyway.....

Actually she didn't even want a pug. They are so playful, loving, silly and funny they sort of grow on ya... Who Gets The Dogs A friend of my son's didn't have time to care for the pug so she sold the black pug to my son... I think both dogs are AKC registered but am not sure they had the ownership transferred... Who Gets The Dogs

My son doesn't seem too worried... I am prob more unset even thinking we could lose the dogs.. I'd be soooooo lost...who would I walk at night ... lol....

Gosh I wrote a book over a dog.. lol

I think this is something the two of them have to work out on their own, and if they cannot work it out they can see a mediator, or file for a judge to decide.

Hard lesson learned, unfortunately.
