There's a member of my family who has DID. Things have not been so bad lately, mostly because because we never see each other anymore (not on purpose). But I was wondering if anyone has any helpful suggestions for friends/famliy/loved ones of DID sufferers. I would also like to hear from those who actually have it, but anyone is welcome to put in their two cents.

I am here for the same reason. My wife has DiD in addition to bipolar. She cheated on me and abandoned me and our children. I try not to blame her, and the past week, things seemed to be working out fine. Then her alter takes over and this one is a *****. Very vicious and sabotages any chance she has for happiness. As a result of the abuse which caused this split, she uses herself for sex to have control over her "victims". It is hard to deal with because what ever I know about this, the things she says, still comes out of a person I love dearly.

Fortuantely, this is not someone I'm married to; she is my oldest sister. One of her alters is totally codepenant on me emotionally. She feels she cannot survive unless I'm over there all the time coddling her. Then, she also has another alter who does the exact opposite--she cannot stand me being there and thinks that my whole life is wrapped around being a burden on her, taking advantage of her and just being spiteful to her. These extremes have caused a great deal of stress in our relationship.
