Sometimes when Im having anxiety I feel the need to talk to my mom for support however I cant. She doesnt believe in mental illnesses, rather she thinks that Im just being weak and needy. Its hard for me to not be able to talk to her. It is so hurtful that I hate her for it.

Sorry to hear your mom can't be there for you. Is there someone else that you could talk to? Maybe a friend? Sometimes the people we love and need most can't be there for us. Whether it's because they just don't know how to handle the situation or were brought up in a time that was ignorant of such things we may never know. Glad you are posting on PC. You my need to post more often when you are anxious and members can support you. That's what we are here for is to support each other.

Thanks for this!

It is very difficult to accept that the person we most want/need to "be there" and understand is not able, for whatever reason, to do this. Do find someone you can talk to --- and, be sure to post on PC for support and information---((hugs))

I had same problem but now im a mummy and I would suggest.
Go and tell your mum yes you are needy! You need her tell her where else you should go for help than your mum?

Your feelings are not wrong. Your mom is wrong. It's important that you know that.

The closest ones, our families are sometimes the last people we should go to for our problems and struggles with MI. I would never go to any one of my family members about such things.

but in a more general sense, if you can't trust the person to understand and support you or at least listen without judgement, find someone you can trust. Just because it's your mom doesn't mean that she has to understand and more often than not they don't.
