I usually take marriage advice from celebrities like a grain of salt. Crush it to watch it pop. But his #2 has to be the most brilliant thing I've ever heard when it comes to relationship advice.

Steve Harvey's 7 secrets to a strong marriage - MSN Living

Quote:
2. I don't bring up exes. I don't remember them or have any fond memories ...
Man, nothing can make you feel worse about yourself than your spouse talking about how great it was that Ex #4 used to do X and you don't do it. Example, I can't dance. But my wife mentions how one of the best things about one of her exes was that they would go out dancing.

But ... I can't dance ...

Dang, shouldn't have read that ... now I feel worse about myself ...

Edit:

Everyone my wife dated before me was more exciting, better looking, more athletic, etc. She dated the starting QB on her college football team, a bar owner, etc. She picked me because I was stable (at the time).

My husband and I have both been guilty of this. We have already come to the conclusion that stories about ex's are generally a bad thing.

You could take dancing lessons . I'm sure that there were other qualities you had she liked too, and still does.

I've been trying to get some ballroom dancing lessons going. You'd think in a city of 500,000+ people that would be easy to find but man ... no luck yet. Maybe one of the dance schools will offer it soon ...

Three left feet ... here it come!

Never know you may be the next Fred Astaire, if you are old enough to know who he is. Hee Hee

Oh yeah, I remember watching Fred Astaire ... and Romper Room ... and even saw the old Batman serial when Robin's tights didn't fit quite right ...

Hey, no fair! I'm in my 20's and LOVE Fred Astaire! The Gay Divorcee is one of my all time favorite movies!

Webgoji, have you tried googling "Ballroom dancing" and the name of your city? I'm sure in a big city there's a dance studio teaching ballroom. It's big thing for weddings.

<1. I married a person who was already happy, and I'm innately happy. So we don't have to make each other happy; we can just complement each other's happiness.>

Of course, the term 'happy' can be a subjective term, but I like the gist of this first one.

((happy, depression, do they co-exist?))
