The large community I live in had a community-wide yard sale yesterday, we had 4 houses with sales in our cul-de-sac of about 10 houses and I'm sure other streets had as many, probably a good 50+ sales going on. Anyway, I made $70 (yahoo!) and want to open a little checking account with that (and the $25 starter change plus a bit more :-) and begin playing with eBay more heavily and Amazon for my books, create a little money generator to finance my charity interests and other little projects I have.

But I was disturbed at how cheaply I sold some stuff yesterday. I don't care that I sold books inexpensively as I literally wanted them gone and ended up asking a woman at the end to take the ones left over as she said she could donate them to Goodwill and I was going to just donate them to the library but never got around to it. But I had a couple antiques and other novelty items that I sold for practically nothing and was a little alarmed at my willingness to do that because I wanted to be "liked" (translates into, if I give you a bargain, you'll like me) and fear of saying "no." I did hold out with one person and he gave me the price I asked but it was less than 1/4th what I'd paid for the item on eBay in the first place and it was really early in the day, before the sales were even supposed to be open, one of my "good" items but because he was trying to buy it, I felt like I had to sell it then! I just didn't like myself much as I was "selling" yesterday, don't know how to start fixing it and don't even want to think about it and my interactions.

don't beat yourself up, this is called experience, next yard sale you'll do better, don't sell low to early arrivals they make a habit of under paying, stay at your original price. let them walk away they usually come back
just think 70.00 and ya cleaned house at the same time
