When you are cheated on, lied to, lied about, backstabbed, and betrayed over and over and over, how do you learn to trust? Can you force it? Or is it something that once broken can never be mended?

When there's someone new, I repeatedly remind myself that they are not the people in my past, and they don't deserve to be painted with that same brush. No matter how many times I end up really hurt... I refuse to treat someone new as if they've already done things to hurt me.

Thanks for this!

I had to take a break and figure out why I was getting into relationships where the same things kept happening over and over again. I identified a few things that seemed to predict the bad outcomes and simply did not permit myself to form relationships with people who had those qualities
