I have many mental illnesses and my mom, who lives with me to take care of her, thinks that i am making stuff up. I have proof to show different, but she doesn't care. When something is wrong with me, she has to have ten things worse that are wrong with her. Now i am sitting at the er because she said she was having a heart attack. We have been here for hours and she is sleeping the whole time. Of course i think she is faking again and i don't know how to deal with this continuous behavior. Van someone please help. I would love any advice.

you need to find a support system outside of your mother because she will consistently try to outdo you. stop looking to her for caring and compassion and understanding because you aren't going to get it. she wants that from you. is there anyone else in the family equipped to care for her? it sounds like you need to spend more time focusing on yourself. take care.

Yes. She's not being adult at all, and she's stopped being a mom. Looks as if you have turned into HER mother....I'm finding that I have to do this with my parents now, too, but they are getting on in years. I don't have to like it, however.
The only thing I can tell you is the same as kaliope...don't expect anything and you won't be resentful.
She isn't likely to change so I would mentally form a new relationship with her....less mother/daughter and more annoying friend/friend.
You can TRY to have a heart to heart, but my bet is that she'll have a tantrum.
