I wasn't sure where else to put this... I've been tossing around the idea of moving to my dad's house for a while now. I've lived in Buffalo, NY for 4 yrs now and grew up in Erie, Pa. My dad lives in the country (population of 273) and has a mini farm, so it'll be a huuuuugggggee change. I think it might be good for me, but I'm still worried that I might not like it. I'll have a whole new set of responsibilities (helping with the animals and garden and such) as well as the stress of moving to a whole new state, finding a job, and changing everything over.

I've been on my own for 6yrs (I'm 24) and if I go to my dad's I'll have to move in with him and his wife for a while. I'll basically have the basement to myself, but it's still weird to me. There will probably be much less to do out there compared to where I live now. I have no friends or family out here so if I go to my dad's, I'll at least have him and his wife, & hopefully will make some friends. My dad wasn't in my life for a long time, but now he is my best friend.

I also feel like I should consider my mom's feelings about this. I told her that I might be moving out there and she started crying and got off the phone b/c she was upset that I'll be even farther from her and I don't visit her very much now as it is. (That's a whole other story, there's a lot of mixed feelings about her due to the past)

I'm working on trying to find my inner happiness at the moment. I'm trying to learn to be happy and figure out who I am and what I like to do. I think maybe being on the farm might help with that. But then again maybe not. Ugggh, I keep flip flopping about how I feel about this whole thing. One day I'm ready and the next I'm not. I just dk

Confused about huge life change (moving)This sounds good and it also sounds your thinking all the right thoughts! Of course the change will be vastly different from city life and the action of being near all the fast food and entertainment. But this way you can get in touch with nature, yourself and the fun of the simple things like the animals, garden and flowers maybe? After all you can now plant whatever you want and you can have some help. Plus Dad's are generally good at teaching you survival skills like fixing things. Take lots of pictures and videos to look back on someday!
Thanks for this!

Thanks! Those were the exact things I was thinking about.. getting in touch with nature (I love nature). I also like flowers and animals. I think it might be good to be able to walk out the door and go a couple yarfs and be on the woods at any time, as opposed to having to walk through the dirty city streets to get to a park.

I'm trying to get in touch with myself and learn about myself.

My dad is the best at teaching all about survival skills and fixing things!

Is it possible to go for a time period, to see how things go, before making the bigger decision to actually move?
