Yesterday (Dec. 30) was my parents 26th anniversary. Everyone was aware of it, but no one mentioned it... which was probably for the best. Every year it makes me sad to see this day go by without mentioning. I wish they could somehow make their peace with each other instead of always battling.

Are they divorced? Did you mention/send a card or anything? It does seem sad but I'm glad you remembered. It would have been my parents 66th anniversary December 7 and my father's and stepmother's 51st in November. I always reflect on their marriages and where I "came from."

They're not divorced, they just live in separate parts of the house. I did mention it to them and gave them their own individual cards. They appreciated the thought and both whispered "There's no need to mention it to your mom/dad". Sometimes I think I should set something up for them, like a dinner or something like that, but I just have flashbacks of many years ago when my sister and I actually did do that and it didn't go too smoothly.
