Hey y'all . Not a very original topic but it is on my mind tonight and I cannot sleep. So I have been at my job for about a year and 6 months and everything was good until about 6 months ago I started working the daytime shift with my manager...I made a few mistakes at work and my boss started to really... Dislike me. She micromanages me and I keep making mistakes !! Also I took off a week in July to go on vacation and she constantly holds it over my head. She has decreased my hours...I hate my job, but I am trying my best but I keep screwing up!! I feel like a failure . Because I keep making mistakes my boss hates me more and more. Mostly just small errors but errors none the less. I have recently started looking for a new job but the process is overwhelming especially someone with anxiety and minor depression... I just need someone who can relate. I am tired of making mistakes but I can't seem to stop and my boss makes me feel like complete crap. I feel like the more I try the more I screw up.

There's something about being micromanaged and bullied about errors that just makes a person make even more mistakes, I find. I've been there and it's a horrible place to be. I hope you can find another job soon. Would transferring to a different shift with a different boss make a difference?
And you aren't a failure -- it's natural to make even more mistakes when you feel like you are being watched all the time. |

This sounds like a very frustrating situation, I am sorry you are dealing with it. I hope you have luck in finding a new job soon, it's certainly no fun being stuck at a job you hate with a manager you feel like doesn't value you.
And there is truth to what hvert says, there is just something about being watched that can make people prone to making mistakes. I'm currently unemployed, but I've worked the majority of the time since I was a teenager, and I can attest that I might go all week without making one single mistake. Then Friday afternoon the head honcho comes in and starts watching me, all of the sudden I make mistakes left and right. I just do not like being watched, and it seriously affects my performance. |

Can you flip back to the original position where you aren't working with her right there ?

Thanks guys I appreciate it! No there's no way I can switch shift bc the shifts are pretty set. I love working my night shifts when she is not around ! Everything is always smooth sailing. But as soon as she comes around idk I just freak out and mess up! It's nice to know there are ppl out there who can relate and sympathize I feel much better today . I actually did a phone interview with an awesome company today, don't want to get my hopes up too much about it though but it was definitely a confidence booster. I know this May sound weird but I think her meanness is sort of stemmed from me being the only other woman in the office... Is that just crazy??

There are always jerks that rise to the top at work. Yes, your best bet is to keep looking for a new job. Don't give up! This will also help you mentally because you'll know you're not trapped.
