Everytime my husband puts forth a negative opinion related to something I am doing that is nice and congenial I get upset. I feel like it just ruins things. It steals the moment. It takes the joy and pleasure out. I wish it didn't spoil things so. I wish I could be stronger and even lighter hearted. He says he doesn't mean it that way and he is always sorry. I get so pained inwardly. I am much too effected. I have spoken to him about using positive words even if he has a different need or opinion. I wish I could respond with more inquiry and understanding. Life does not always go just the way I want it to..I would like to deal with it better so that it doesn't cause so much pain.

try to prepare yourself for your husbands words by taking an "its not about me" attitude, keeping in mind it just has a negative mindset and it has nothing to do with you..........

I dated a guy who had a negative opinion about almost everything I said. It really grated on my nerves because he had to disagree or correct me about anything I said. I guess you can see one of the many reasons why I am no longer with him! But, seeing as how you are married, I'd like to suggest talking to him again. Its one thing to say you're sorry and continue the same behavior, another thing to try and modify your behavior for the sake of someone you love. I know he is sorry, but I also hope that he is willing to change his responses seeing as how much his words hurt you. I don't think its simply a matter of you needing to put up with negative words. It will tear you apart in the end. I think this is something that you both need to work on. He needs to be more careful of what he says, and you should try to work on not taking his words so personally.
