I have been corresponding with someone for 20 years. We met once, maybe 15 years ago. Sometimes we might go a few months without communicating. At other times we will write on a daily basis.
It's been a year since I heard from him. He hasn't responded to my last few messages. It took me six months before I realized something was wrong with that. I sent him a message today and the email bounced -- he had a gmail account with his full name, so it's not something you'd think someone would give up! I am not sure what I am going to do next. I guess I will send something to his last snail mail address, but he was in the process of moving the last time we spoke. It may be too late for forwards. I could contact some of his old friends, but they have no idea who I am. |

Sorry for you hvert. Even infrequent people in our lives can be meaningful.
I don't see any harm in contacting his friends and inquiring about him. Instead of asking for his new contact information (they might be reluctant to give it), you can ask them if they will tell him you are concerned about him and would like to hear from him. One of the on-line people locator sites might have a new snail mail address for him. |
