I thought I'd share something I put in my city's Rants and Raves section on Craigslist:
You never know what someone has been through. Some people are good at hiding hurt and past pain from being able to withstand blows (emotional and physical) beyond what most could even begin to fathom. (I can definitely relate)
- someone might be "like a big kid' because they never had much of a childhood. They might just have been born by a ***** of a mom who regularly beat him starting at the early age of 4 with shaming during potty training to regular beatings and belittled him and tried to discourage him at every turn in his life, using him for acheck in the mail and making him so all the cleaning and cooking and more beatings and berating when at the age of 7 he has messed up cooking dinner.- who regularly cried himself to sleep at night and still suffered peoples misinterpreting his kind loving nature for something sinister, pre judging him based on what he looks like instead of bothering to get to know him as a person. Who with a regular supportive parent would've overcome his ADHD by now and already completed college and wouldn't have chosen psychos ( not all of his exes) as girlfriends-
No too mention his mentor that took him in under his wing in his mid teens only to be violently murdered about ten years later after he had become like a father to him and still struggle with barely anything of a support network besides his sister and less than a handful of true friends.
So maybe because he was robbed of a childhood and a loving family that he so desperately needed and deserved does he resemble a 'big kid.'
He is the sweetest man you could ever meet, and I love him beyond measure.
