I need help and fast. My horrid mother-in-law told my husband that starting TONIGHT (in 5 hours), she is moving in with us until further notice!

This is a horrible woman who is a criminal, steals medication from my husband, uses up all of our utilities, food, and facilities while messing them up, then saying we owe her! She's dirty, burps and snots all over stuff, and is just absolutely terrible.

My husband and I have been married for 4 years and barely see her, but she keeps being barged into her lives by my husband's dad (her ex husband 25+ years ago). For some sick reason, my father in law keeps giving her money, rides, and attention while whining to us constantly about what a burden she is. She used to be rich (in fact she had TWO houses), but she squandered everything. She even had my father in law in shelters, and sold my husband's toys and belongings so she could have money for herself! She tried living with her daughter, only to get kicked out with a restraining order against her.

I am a calm, peaceable person who doesn't have the best family, but they are the side of law enforcement and would never act anywhere close to the way this woman acts. I feel like I'm about to commit suicide. I can't have this woman taking over my home again. We have a small budget, small income, and enough problems with my husband being ill with kidney disease. My father in law stays with us and contributes to his share of the bills, but he is also a burden, to be honest, because he is so controlling and is always bringing this evil woman around when he KNOWS how much trouble she causes all of us.

I don't believe in divorce, and what could I do anyway? My husband can't live off his small disability income, and I don't make enough to live on my own either. We could get by together, but to have his mother here will kill us financially as well as emotionally, since we will have no space, no extra money for the food and bills she will be taking away from us.

I haven't felt suicidal for a long time, but if my husband brings her here, I don't know what I will do. I went crazy last time she was here and I can't do it again. Right now they are at a party at the church hall that the mother in law reserved under OUR name, while she invited her criminal brother. There were reported stolen electronics from the church and we sure don't need trouble with the brother stealing stuff.

I don't want any part of this. How do I get out of this?!

Say no and mean it. Give her a list of homeless shelters call them and get her a bed. Done.
Thanks for this!

Do any outstanding warrants exist against your mother-in-law or her brother?
Does your local police department have a non-emergency line (although I could see this escalating to an emergency)?
2-1-1?

Unless she is on the lease or pays rent, she has no legal right to be in your house. This also applies to the father in law.
Thanks for this!

Boundaries, learn them, use them, live them.
