I am not sure if it has made the news in America or other countries but on Monday we had a siege in the Lindt Café in Sydney right next to the channel 7 buildings and two people died and a further four people were injured and I can’t say I knew any of the people involved but I was in that cafe last week with my step daughter after I took her to the Doctor and I felt horrible for all the families.

Yeah, it was all over the news here in America. I agree, I feel terrible for the families.

In answer to your question if my partner was caught in something like that, I'd probably be almost panic-stricken.

I don't know how I'd feel if my partner got caught. How are you doing though, when I hear terrible events like this, it worries me for the victims involved. Having been in the shop just days before makes it even more personal for you. I would probably be in shock! Hope you and you daughter are well.

I don't understand why this is even a thread, unless a robot is asking the question...

Seriously, I'm not playing or trying to be difficult. I.just.don't.get.it.

Because isn't the answer obvious to every human being?

Sure you may get an array of adjectives, but they all come down to the same thing.

Unless you're hoping an odd ball would reply "I couldn't care less"...

Seriously, how is this topic even a thread. I mean I can understand if the news links are posted in the current events forum and the details are then discussed in said thread ... But a "how would you feel" thread??????????

I actually think that certain things cannot be pictured in advance. You feel what you feel when you feel it - it cannot be an armchair speculation.

Yeah, I do agree with Trippin all the "what if questions" seem a bit odd, unless there is a specific relationship issue.

I asked this question simply because it was the same question asked on the Sky News channel here in Australia at the time of the siege and a lot of people replied to it with different answers via their stream. As individuals we all react differently to different situations and while there are bound to be similarities nobody reacts in the exact same way to a situation. A similar question about how you would feel if it happened was asked the day after on 2UE (radio) and people rang up the station and talked about it so that’s why I asked it here.

I lost my first girlfriend/best friend in a car accident when I was 17 and spent years blaming myself for it because I didn’t save her and I would do EVERYTHING I could to save my Wife and daughters and if it had been me stuck in the café with my step daughter I would have done everything I could to get my step daughter to safety.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
