Ok so me and my girlfriend have been together for almost a year and a half she has lived with me for a year. Before we started dating one of her really good friends was killed in an accident and probably 6 months into our relationship she told me that she was in love with him and she had treated him badly before he died and she had never gotten the chance to apologize for the things that she had done. And she regrets it and it haunts her and now she is overcome with grief and I want to be there for her and help her get through this but she insists that she don't need my help even when I can tell something is bothering her. It is driving a wedge between us and killing our relationship. She has started talking to other guys and when we talked about it she said it was to get my attention she feels like I take her for granted that I take advantage of the fact that she is with me. She said she wanted me to know that there are other people out there that want her. I'm just lost and confused because to me it feels like I have been pushed away and that is why I became distant I guess. I want to prove to her that I am here till the end. And she is my whole world. We have had a bumpy road in the past but I want to make it work and prove to her how much she means to me. And how can I help her to get through this loss? Please any help would be appreciated.

Hello marksman71: Welcome to PsychCentral. PC is a great place to gain support, learn strategies for handling mental health concerns, & to make internet friends. There are many wonderfully supportive members here on PsychCentral. One forum in particular you may want to check out is:

Relationships & Communication - Forums at Psych Central

All new members' first 5 posts are reviewed before they become available for viewing by the community. So there may be a delay between the time that you submit your first 5 posts & the point at which they become available for viewing. However, once these initial posts have been reviewed & approved, your posts will become available for viewing as soon as you click the submit button.

There are quite a few forums in which you will be able to post. If you have not already done so, be sure to look through the listing in the Forum Index:

Each forum is listed in the Index along with a brief description of it's purpose.

Also, once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved, you will be able to participate in our chat rooms where you'll have the opportunity to correspond with other PC members in real time. These chat rooms are listed on the community calendar showing the dates & times they meet:
