Over the last couple of years (due to stress, depression, anxiety, relationships, etc) I've felt disconnected to many of my family and friends. I've often kept my distance because of the anxiety and worry I felt. However, as we're going into the New Year, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to make these relationships easier and more satisfying for me? I'm also going through a recent break up and really want their support, but find it hard to ask for help :/

Hi Ikbun14, I've gone through phases of this as well. Where I've isolated myself somewhat from friends/family due to depression & anxiety, or troubles in my relationship.
I would suggest just being as honest and open as you comfortably can. In my relationships I apologized for my pulling away, and asked for their patience and understanding as I tried to do better. When you are recovering from a break-up, I believe friends are willing to help. It's OK to ask them. ![]() Also, suggest just getting together to do things that you know they enjoy doing, something that shows you're interested in them too, and want to rebuild the relationship. Best of luck, I know this is hard.
