I am having a hard time getting over my ex boyfriend. I have made myself believe that he is the love of my life. I also have made myself believe that he is my soul mate. He is not very good at discussing our issues without running away from the situation, dismissing the issues and forgiving. I have apologized more than once, begged, and pleaded and nothing is working. I feel like I have been loving myself for 4 years and that he doesn't appreciate the woman I have become now. I just want my knight in shining armour back.

He wasn't a knight in shining armor , You said you made yourself believe he was the love of your life and soul mate. Had he really been that Knight you wouldn't have to make yourself feel that way, it would be a natural thing.

If this is a recent break up, well you need time to grieve the loss, whether it was a great relationship or a unhealthy one. If its been months and months maybe seeing a therapist would be helpful .

No one should have to feel forced to love someone. that's not how real love works.
