Sometimes it's real. It depends on the people involved. I had an online relationship but eventually that didn't end so well because I was broken up with for a person not online. I met my ex online and that lasted 3 years but now I am married to someone I met online. We are happy with each other. Dating literally online is not good for a person. You usually are insecure, scared, confused, jealous or sad because you don't get to physically see the person or kiss the person.

Actually no, those were two questions and a statement about elderly couples.

Nope, just opinions about general hypothetical situation. Nothing about specific people. This thread wasn't about anyone in particular just a general conversation that obviously resulted in different opinions. Judging would be discussing somebody in particular Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would disagree with that statement. If I made a broad general statement like women are lazy or men are disgusting, I am not judging any specific member, but by implication I am judging all women or men.
Saying that online relationships aren't real relationships isn't judging any specific member, no, but it is by implication judging all those that have online relationships. It is non-judgemental to say that an online relationship wouldn't work for yourself; it is a judgement to say a type of relationship others have is not a "real" relationship even if it is a generalized statement. |

Why are you making this thread about you?
We already said we were providing our opinions, which, if you remember correctly, is what the OP specifically asked us to do. Don't hijack or derail if the subject matter in a thread is upsetting, avoid. That's kind of how it works here at PC.

OP asked what are opinions are on a subject "is it real or not?" She didn't ask if it Works for us. Just our opinions. She asked. We answered. This thread isn't about you in any shape or form. You are making someone else's thread about yourself for some reason and getting upset about it. Don't know why. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yes, they're very real. I didn't make mine official until we met in person but we were deeply in love for almost a year online. According to research romantic online relationships tend to be more real and successful than those started offline.

I believe in online friendships, I have several. When it comes to a relationship, to make it complete there should be some face to face interaction to seal the deal. Someone can look and sound absolutely perfect online, but in person there could be no chemistry whatsoever.
