I'm in my mid-twenties, and I have never lived on my own. My divorced mom makes $20k from her job, and I pay her $1,000 a month.
When I tell her I want to move out, she rants about what a horrible child I am and then stops talking to me and ignores me altogether. She says that she will have to get another job if I move out to support herself. I've offered to give her money when I move out, but she says she won't take it and prefers if I don't communicate with her at all if I leave. I don't want my mom to work 2 jobs, but I also want to move out. WTF do I do? |

Your mother probably not only needs/wants the income you provide her, she probably fears being alone. That doesn't make you responsible for her life or happiness, though. If you aren't already, getting some counseling and support as you move through this would be a good idea.
I hope you come to what is right for you and still find a way to maintain a reasonable relationship with your mother. If you can't, then you can at least know you tried. |

Your mother can find another roommate if she really needs one. You don't have to live with her forever. It is natural that you want to move out and it is wrong of your mother to try to guilt you into staying.
