I live at home with my dad and I visit my mother during summer and winter vacations occasionally and she hasn't really been in my life but when I go there its violent and crazy and there's alot of screaming and they punish my sister severely for very small things like not cleaning a dish or even eating the wrong way. Everytime I go there I have extreme anxiety and I'm very moody and I have a quick temper and my dad thinks it's because I have a phobia of my mom and because what I have seen over there all of my life when I visit. I have a therapist but she doesn't understand it either so I would like to try and get other peoples opinions so I could maybe try to calm down and forget about everything that has went on when I go there.. Thank you

Well I don't think you have a phobia of your mother, but I think its possible that visiting your mom triggers so much stress in your mind and body, that you are unable to cope with the situations as you normally would. Talk to your therapist about PTSD, and try to avoid putting yourself in that situation the best you can. If you are still young and HAVE to visit your mother, talk with your therapist about some coping methods.

Have you considered turning your mother in for abusing your sister? That's what is going on over there and that's what is causing you to have all this trouble. If your therapist doesn't understand this then you might want to try another therapist. If you are suffering like this just think about how your sister must be suffering.

I know and I want to turn her in but.. I'm a kid who sadly loves her mother and just wants her to be better.. I want her to be better with me but she drinks and hits while I scream and cry about the things she does.. I wish I could turn her in, but I'm too weak because all I want is her love and support and sadly I will never get that.

One of the best things you can do for someone you love is force them to get help. It's not unloving to make them accountable for mistreatment of others, it's a mature response to something wrong. Truthfully if you let it go on, and it's your sister that's getting a lot of the bad treatment, it's not that you're showing love to your mom but essentially placing your "loving your mom" over your sister's care. What does that say?
