Problem at Mom's House

I wanted my Mom to have a really nice Sunday. I took her for a long drive. We meandered slowly around so that she could see the scenery and beautiful spring flowers. She said she wanted hot dogs and ice cream, so I bought them for her.

We came back to her house and laughed and talked. I surprised her with a gift that she really liked.

Then the member of my family who has hurt me so much called Mom. Before she answered the phone Mom told me to not make any noise because she didn't want that person to know I was in her house.

I gathered my things and left as quickly as I could. There was no use in saying anything. She'll never change. Our beautiful day was ruined.

PS. My only brother was married this weekend. I wasn't invited. I was doing pretty well with it until I found out the bride's sister was there...

Some people are just not very nice. Some people won't change sadly. Only thing we can do is change ourselves.

I'm upset for you that you weren't invited to the wedding, that would be very upsetting to anyone.

Wish I had any words of encouragment, but not sure what to say except we all love you here and will support you unconditionally. Guaranteed.

I am so sorry that your family is so hurtful to you, January. Is it possible that your mother was trying to protect you, rather than trying to hide you?

(((Jan))) I kind of know how that feels. my neice is graduating this weekend and the entire family is invited to her party except me. no one except my sil's family is invited to actual graduation. we will hang together sweetie.

Sorry Jan... Sounds like a rough weekend. I am sorry.

I think I continue to want things to be good with my mom and sometimes it is but sometimes she just is who she is... though well intended I think. Drives me nuts.

Also...sorry about your brother and new SIL's decision in wedding guests. You seem like a doll.

Thank you, Secret. I get so frustrated with my Mom but then I have to remember she is elderly and afraid. If I can just keep that part in mind, I can manage to sidestep the pain better.
