Hi fellas~
hope everyone had an amazing start of the day. or even it is not really the best day, keep on smiling and stay positive. ![]() was wondering if you can give any ideas, when you are stuck in the situation like i did, whereby your parents aren't really open up for discussion, or talk about certain issues (especially boyfriend issue), also wouldn't want to listen to your opinion, think that what they're saying is always right, what will you do? they are also somehow feels that it is okay if i hated them for their harshness, for the sake of my life and happiness.. suggestions from all of you is greatly appreciated. ![]() |

That can be really tough and it seems like as we get older, we get more set in our ways. One thing I used with my parents (long ago) was to subtly working on them so it eventually became their idea to discuss things. Just kind of dropping hints and ideas from time-to-time. Once they had ownership, then it was much easier to talk to them.

There are going to be things in your life that your parents are not going to agree with, that is very common.
The best thing to do is to take your parents' opinions and reasons into consideration, appreciate their input and then do what you need to do for yourself. If you are a minor, then you need to listen to your parents when it comes to most things. But if you're an adult, then all that is happening is that your parents disagree with you, but oh well. If your parents take a disagreement far enough as to disown you or some other extreme reaction, then that is on them. |
