Yesterday I received a small package. It had no return address; no note or letter. Only a memory stick. On the stick were over a thousand images taken by a former boyfriend (5 years ago) taken of all the adventures we had - including many photos of us together. It also included several music files of love songs he had written and performed for me. It had been a very passionate relationship. We broke up when the relationship became long distance.
I'm just not sure what to make of this. |

Is it just the time of year??? Received very similar bizarre-ness from an estranged ex recently.

Well, how does it make you feel? What do you think it could mean?

During the holidays, there seems to be this sort of magnifying glass of ones life. People start to miss those who once meant a lot to them, and they want to bring them back into their lives. I think its a bit of the nostalgia coupled with some rose colored glasses looking at the past. I've had former....friends, boyfriends contact me during the holidays, but in the end it never works out because the old reasons for departing end up rearing their ugly heads again at some point.
In your case....well, if the distance isn't so much an issue anymore, then perhaps contact him? If it still is, then maybe its best to leave things alone. Passion going in the wrong direction can end up as a nuclear bomb instead of fireworks. But, you know your situation and the past relationship best. Maybe he isn't long distance anymore? Either way, it sounds like this guy really misses you. As I said in the other thread, perhaps he regrets the end of the relationship, maybe he regrets not fighting for you harder. Maybe he's never found anyone like you since.

I know this is off-topic, but I feel like it's important... NEVER stick an unknown USB flash drive (or any USB device for that matter, including keyboards) into your computer. Whether you receive it via the post, or find it in a car park, etc. Without going into the technical details, it's very easy for someone to compromise your computer via a USB device that has malicious code on it.

oh, just to make it clear, the pictures of us together are not 'that sort' of pictures some have PM'd me jumping to conclusion about. These are just innocet pictures.
Thx for everyone's words. |

But are you sure he didn't put a malicious program on the memory stick? Maybe he did that as a way to stalk you? Maybe he can now see everything you're posting here, too.

No return address and no note btw? Sounds really shady.

Sounds like you already looked at it. So, I guess take it for what it is. Either enjoy the memories or not.
Maybe he is in a relationship and is thinking of you, but didn't want to intrude in your life. |

I was going to post something completely different... but then I read this. What if that was possible? 0.0

It's definitely possible, and you don't need to be a genius to do something like that either. Now, someone could break into your house and bug your phone while you're out ...but is that very likely? ...prooooobably not. We don't worry about that, because it's unlikely that anyone is sufficiently motivated, or has the means to do something like that without getting caught. Was the USB infected? I'd guess probably not. And, I'd hope OP would know if the guy was that kind of person... BUT, what if it was? And yes, I'm being more paranoid than the typical person, but that's only because this is my field so I know what's possible.
