Hey everyone,

I graduated from college last May and I have realized since then I have no idea how to socialize outside of a school environment. I have Asperger's Syndrome but I learned social skills late in high school and was very successful in that regard in college. Everyone who spent any time around me commented that I knew everyone. After graduation I was kind of lost in that regard. Working in Washington DC helped some since I often went out with my roommates and coworkers but now I'm back in my hometown while I look for a job and apply for grad school. In contrast with DC there is no where in town to go and I have no clue where to even look. I have thought about finding a church but most of them don't have many people my age and the few I know that do are overly political and I doubt my more libertarian stances would be welcome. I go to visit my friends who are still at college but that simply isn't feasible everyday and while keeping in touch with them through social media is great, most of them are busy and don't have time to talk most of the time. Recently some health problems have also complicated leaving the house to find new friends but I can't take much more just sitting around the house. Video game marathons are a very poor substitute for a real life.

Granted it may or may not lead to having people to go out with socially, employment or volunteerism are viable ways to get you out of the home and interacting with others.

Thanks for your reply. Employment is one thing I'm working on now. Volunteering is an option. Its just a matter of finding one.
Thanks for this!
