I think more detail would help. As far as "emotional" blackmail, I would need an example to base my thoughts on I guess.

Blackmail is someone getting you to do something you don't want to do by holding something over your head.

Thanks so much everyone!

Sometimes you are so close to a situation that you just can't see it. Then, one day, it kind of clicks. You don't want it to be what you think it is, though.

I know I didn't give any detail, but I was pretty much told that if I didn't do what was asked, then I would be ignored.
For someone like me, who thinks they are wrong most of the time and should behave myself, it didn't occur to me for a long time to not do what was wanted even though it is wrong. Very wrong.
