I say just pick out a few questions that you might ask her next time you see her. Rehearse them so they are more comfortable to speak...

Maybe ..

You must get tired of being here all day .. do you enjoy going somewhere else to enjoy your coffee... add in a chuckle here ( I wouldn't take that as a creepy question )
Well it wasn't about my son. It was clearly about me as a father more than anything and I say that because she went from that to "how many kids do you have again?" following up with asking their ages and then mentioning my youngest asking about him too.

The only problem with rehearsal is that I do that. in fact my internal conversation is far more active than real life and what I actually do. I have entire conversations with myself and what I envision another person saying, considering what they will say back and what to do... etc. shoot I could write a book on my internal conversations :P Unfortunately that part isn't the issue XD It's just plain getting idk, something that kicks into gear and makes me take initiative.
Thanks for this!

Well it sounds like she likes you so maybe you'll just naturally relax and find it flows with time.

I'm not too into the idea of rehearsal myself, prefer to just be my weird old self.
Thanks for this!

Well that is myself hahaha I do that anyway so it's not like it's a reach for me, but I get your point, if it didn't come naturally I'm not sure if it would help anyway, probably just serve to make my responses become robotic or "rehearsed" lol.

Well another day of missed opportunities. Went to the coffee shop she was there, cute as ever. But a customer that apparently is an acquaintance was there too and she began chatting with her as soon as she came in so I just waited for my coffee and after saying thanks and 'see you later' I left. >.>

annnnd thank god there is always tomorrow (which is today now). Saw her first thing this morning

Guess what? I ASKED HER, "how are you this morning?" O.O Had to prepare in my mind moments before .. but I did that.

Honestly I see her often enough that I can tell when she's having an off day or morning and she seemed to be this morning. Confirmed by her looking at me and going "well, I haven't had my coffee yet." Told her that I understood. she added "you know how some mornings you just want water?" So yeah she shared how her morning is, and I think it was quite honestly too which was much better than an "I'm fine" kind of reply

/me is happy
