I am an addict with borderline personality disorder. I was in a relationship with a wonderful girl for almost eight years. I put her through a lot, believe me I know. She stood by me through it all until we split. The problem is that we never really split emotionally, we saw each other off an on, just no commitment. She was hot and cold and now I live 1200 miles away and she called about a month ago and asked if I would come up and see her. Now it's been two weeks since I've talked to her(I never initiate the contact). I just assume she's found someone to replace me. But this has really sent me into an emotional downward spiral.
I am feeling like a total screw up. No money,no job,no relationship, no friends, criminal record, and going through midlife crisis. Just needed someone to hear.

Hello Ecolson74: If she went to the trouble of calling you, call her back! Why assume she's found someone else? Perhaps she's just figuring you're just not interested. She obviously knows who you are & what the baggage is you come with. So if, knowing that, she's still willing to call & invite you to visit... RUN MAN... to the phone... & call her back!!! What's done is done. Think of this as an opportunity to start over...

I wonder why you never initiate contact.

Look at it this way: she initiated this contact, this invitation. You just need to respond.

What do you think of going to visit her?

Are you an active addict? Or are you sober?

Have you seen a Therapist to help you learn ways to love yourself and decrease the amount of self loathing you are dealing with.

She reached out .. By all means call her back

That's quite a lot you've gone through and are going through.

8 years is a long time to be with someone and no doubt you have many memories.

I hope you find some comfort here on PC.

Welcome!
