I get told constantly by my dad and by my aunt that I'm very overweight. I know I am, I'm 56kg and 5'7, but I can't ever get them to stop saying it. They claim I eat too much, but normally I eat twice a day and try to keep it under 1,000 calories. I've been this same weight and height since 2012. How would you get them to stop?

Thanks for this!

They're just being S.O.B's.

I'm not going to bother telling you your weight is fine, since you seem to have such a strong opinion of it I feel like it would be water off a duck's back right now.

I'd highly recommend you see someone regarding this issue; a trained professional in body esteem issues.

Your father and aunt are toxic and are seemingly causing you long term damage regarding your self esteem.

Stop listening to them . Talk to you health doctor. The most important thing is to be healthy. Mentally and physically. Listening to them would be toxic for anyone.

I'd direct them to speak directly with your doctor if they are so concerned.

They do sound rude.

I agree with the comments above, those kind of comments are pure toxic b.s

I would tell them where to jump and not even give them any more thought, you don't that kind of negativity in your life.

Also...1000 calories is not very much, I hope you are getting lots of nutrient rich food into your diet while the calorie count is so low, I would hate to see you fall unhealthy on account of others rude and idiotic behavior.

Take care

I can empathize with this on the grounds that family can have such power over us and we can feel very hurt that this power is being used in a judgemental and hurtful way rather than creating a space of safety and nourishment for your self-esteem. This is where I feel what your experiencing is abuse and does not really have anything to do with your weight or how you look. I would agree with the above contributors and call in the professional supports. Doctor to deal with any real health issues and a qualified therapist/counselor/psychologist to deal with the abuse your experiencing and to provide a space of safety that allows you to express what your feeling...

Not sure I understand. 57Kg is only 125lbs. At 5ft7in that would have you significantly under weight.

Regardless, they are being real turds (pardon me).

125lbs is just slightly under 9st! and for a person measuring at 5ft7ins tall, that sounds like bang on the mark!!
I concur with the other threads` to ignore them as they are being a bit harsh on you!
For your peace of mind, Make an appointment to see your Doctor.......

It sounds like your father and aunt probably have issues regarding weight. Please don't let them pass it on to you!

You're just a smidge over underweight, actually. You're very close to being underweight, according to the BMI.

I'm also 5'7, yet I'm 145 lbs. And yes, I'm fit, healthy, and thin.

It's VERY important to maintain a healthy weight, and if you let yourself become underweight (which will most likely happen at 1000 calories a day) without gaining weight again, you will have consequences.

1000 calories a day is going to cause you to lose weight... It depends on how active you are. If you're regularly active, it's recommended that you eat 2000 calories a day. If you're less active, you should still eat over 1500 calories a day...

I feel for you because I was in the same situation at a teenager. I was underweight, and suddenly my muscles and strength took a nose-dive, despite a very active lifestyle, because I couldn't support my metabolism, not to mention vitamin deficiencies I experienced. This was mostly because my father kept strict watch on what I ate and made sure I regularly exercised. He made comments on me being fat, too, even though I eventually learned that I was underweight.

Yeah, please don't listen to your family members. They'll make you physically sick if you let them get to you.

depending upon your age this could be over weight or underweight or right on.. at first i was a bit confused because the USA does not use kg for weights, we use pounds here. then I used google to change your locations weight kg into american pounds which equals 123. what ever rounded up thats 124-125 pounds. for a teen ager thats right on or over weight, for an adult thats right on or underweight. how the weight charts go here in america is its based not only on your height but also your age and bmi ( body mass index)

if you are an adult my suggestion is contact your medical doctor. they can tell you where you are supposed to be on the charts and whether you are under weight, just right or over weight for your age, height and BMI, they can also give you a statement that you can show to your relatives anytime they want to question your weight, even give them permission to contact your medical doctor.

your doctor can also tell you how many calories you are supposed to be taking in and burning off during exercise. usually its about 1800 - 2000. sometimes more if the issue is losing weight. the body is a strange thing it goes into survival mode of storing as fat cells for later if the body isnt getting enough nutrients to survive. which is why treatment providers in my location use the 2000 calorie diets when trying to lose weight. it tricks the body into thinking its got an excess of nutrients to throw away rather than store them
