After many years giving up my own happiness to please others, I decided to make what makes me happy instead. And you know what? It was my best decision ever.
Last month my bf asked me to travel to visit his family at his brother's house. His parents live overseas and he beg me to go. I did against my wish, because I don't like to spend too much time with them, they're expensive and very difficult. It was my worst vacation ever. They kept arguing with each other, spent most of the vacation from mall to mall shipping (I hate malls), and cooking and eating all day. My days were accompanying them to the malls and cleaning behind them, because I felt embarrassed that they left eveythjg dirty behind.
They will be back next month and my BF asked me again to join them, but this time I refused to go. He beg me to please some, but my decision was firm.
I feel so good about myself. I will enjoy a few weeks all by myself and that's priceless.
I shoulda have done this long ago.

there is a certain amount of sacrifice that is worth giving for a person that we love but it should never be at the expense of our own health, emotional, physical or mental. This is a great thing that you've done and I commend you on it because I know of many people including myself that give into putting ourselves in such environments far too often to appease the SO.

Yeah! Luckily for us, we wake up and realize it sooner or later. It is nice to do things for others, but even more important is to do them for yourself.
