My friend was supposed to help me with this but I haven't heard from her in a while and don't want to press the issue as I fear she's got bored of me already, like so many others before her.. So I decided to try and handle this through writing instead.

Could you share your experiences of situations where some misfortune has struck you or you've done something 'embarrassing' and feared people would laugh at you and ridicule you, or turn on you, but at least one person hasn't and has actually been on your side?

For instance, let's say you fell on an icy road and instead of laughing at you, someone came over to ask if you were alright and helped you up? Something like that..

I've learned that some people are trust worthy and others are not. The real trick is not learning to trust, it's learning to trust the right people. I'm in a very untrusting place right now so I can't think of the many times I was helped by the kindness of strangers but it has been enough to be encouraging. Good luck to you and (((hugs)))

Very good post, thanks for sharing.

I struggle with trust issues, and I think having a buddy is a great idea to build up trust.

I just posted about something similar. It's hard sometimes isn't it? I think we just have to take a chance every now and then, it can be hard to do so, but unless we do we'll never know.

I once fell over in the street by the way in busy rush hour and a kind stranger helped me up, I'll never forget her.

interestingly enough, there is an article on the PC main page about trust issues, what they are and the process of working through them. I found it to be rather insightful
