I want to share some experience I had. Since I am a little embaraced to share it with friends.
I was following the tips on this self help article I read by chance. It said you should talk to someone new everyday. So how the hell one is suppose to met someone new everyday? Specially since I am kind of withdrawn from society until January.

I thought it would be funny to met people online. So I tried this app. It was funny in a certain way and maybe it could indeed help me, but god, this is really not for me. I couldn't stand it.

Of course I met some weirdos, with strange conversation topics. But what I end ed up wondering was why do people do this. I had this guy, that lives across the planet flurting with me. Why? He doesn't now me, he doesn't now how I am like...And I imagine how many people he does that to. I can imagine what this people may want, but I can't trully understand why.
That's all. And yes, sometimes I am naive, but not stupid.

People do lots of things out of loneliness and desperation. I did my share of very stupid things when lonely. So perhaps this guy flirting out of loneliness. One way meetings by a stranger every day is work in retail, you'll meet a ton or go to gym? Online could be ok but often times it isn't the same thing because you dint really know who is out there. What happens in January?

Good for you for giving it a try. I agree that there are a lot of people out there with some weird motives on the internet there are some genuine ones too. It's all about deciphering the difference between the two. Sounds like you have good judgement.

I used to be on some online chat rooms and the first thing someone would want to talk about was sex. I knew right then that they were not genuinely looking for friends. I got tired of it rather quickly. It wasn't what I was looking for. It sounds like you are looking for true friendship, keep up the search just being careful not to be taken in.

Maybe I would give it another try, but only if I finded a nice chat room. Internet has the appeal of not being face to face and that I can move away without so many remorse as if I new people.
I am on a sort of a break. I have finished my studies and my work contract only starts on January. I will work at a hospital, so I will certainly meet new people every day. I just hope it won't be to overwhelming.
