Is this what we have really become? So I went online looking for a chat. Not really a hook up or to be picked up, but just to talk. I ran into a married man that was really cool to talk to. We bantered, had a few laughs, and ultimately the "pic" question came up. Why is a pic so important? Not that I'm ugly or insecure, but that shouldn't be the basis of chatting with someone. I am hugely disappointed in humanity.

I spent a good half hour explaining how i like my privacy and it shouldn't matter because I tried to salvage the conversation. Then he asks for a description. UGH!! I finally had enough and was then put off by the whole thing. I enjoy chatting. I think its a great past time. I love meeting people and engaging in fun maybe even flirty conversation. The rush, the fun, hell I love the no pic thing because it even adds to the mystery.

But the dynamic has changed. Its all pics and cam. I want to be anonymous. I wish it was the way it was in the old days. Chatrooms and AOL. So disappointed.

Anyway, if anyone is up for a chat let me know! LOL.

People like to ask for picture because to many fake people pretend to be someone they are not he wants to make sure your a female and not a male .

If it bothers you that much and u want to be private then send a fake picture of yourself .
No one need to know what you really look like unless your going to date them , then they should know what u look like .

Random people on line do not need to know

Are you being honest when you say you're not really looking for a hook-up?

Yeah, I understand that. A pic should not be necessary unless you're meeting the person face to face. In that case, yes, I would ask for a pic.

But just for online chatting ? Heck no. I might just be curious and say it would be nice to share a pic, but I wouldn't insist on it.

If you wanna chat, feel free to PM me Tell me what you're about

Yeah, you will always meet guys like this! I have a profile on another site where I meet people (not a dating site) and sometimes I'm asked for more pictures. (Again, NOT a dating site, so highly inappropriate.) Yes, it is my real pic that I put up, but I think some guys really DO think that you are into them when you're not, or they really do want something more when they say they don't. And remember that guys are visual creatures. It gets annoying, but just throw the bad ones away and move on. There are lots of other people out there who will chat with you without seeing your pic!

I am glad you think so!!! Isn't it sad though? I honestly don't know where they come up with those assumptions.

I am an old school IRC chatter. I love that kind of communication and have made some really strong friendships. Most moved on to fb but with my internet connection I cant get on fb much so I lost contact with a lot of them now. I wish more people came on the old IRC networks.

I miss the activity of forums before facebook too. I used to be on some great intelligent forums but they are all dead and buried now.

Yes I agree! Too bad you're not a member anymore! This is an old thread, but if you ever come around, just look me up!
