Sorry just want to vent. I hate how I feel I need to fake things around people because if I don't they just can't understand what I am going through. They can't understand the amount of pain and suffering. Trying to explain it to them is pointless. Even my wife who tries hard to understand can't fully.
It makes you feel like you are stranded on an island. Ts I guess understand the best but it doesn't always work. |

I am just so tired of having to be strong because it is always for others and not myself. But if I am myself then I get a lot of questions about why I am acting to strange. Then trying to explain and just getting strange looks.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt and more than strange looks. Are there any in-person support groups in your area? They, and this forum, have helped me a lot.

DBSA (Depression Bipolar Support Aliance) is a peer association that I used to connect with. Check if there is a local chapter in your area.
I get what you're saying. My sig. other says depression is just something I do to myself. Frustrating. And there is no educating him. Other family members have told me, "I just don't let myself get depressed." Well, goooood for you is what I think to myself. People who have not experienced clinical depression think they know what it feels like because they've been blue on occasion. They don't get it because they can't. And, yes, they don't want to hear about it - most people. That's been my experience. |

i put on such a mask at work. Sometimes certain things can be a daily struggle. But I admit I crack occasionally and then colleagues realise something is way wrong.
What do you mean your wife doesn't understand? Could you elaborate? I ask as it could be depressive thinking making you feel that unless she's walked in your shoes, she wouldn't get it from a first hand experience. But she doesn't need to get it from a first hand experience in order to understand that this is a real struggle and challenge for you right now and to identify the signs that you are suffering ![]() Maybe she does understand more than you realise? Just throwing out a different perspective. |
