Hello everyone!
I have started a new job 3 weeks ago. I thought it was a great opportunity to live on a new country and lean new things. To be honest, i love the country and its people, but the problem isn't that I'm not sure if I took a good decision accepting this job. When the company approached me 4 months ago, everything sounded like a great opportunity. I have been offered other jobs, but I turned them down as I thought that this one would be the right one for me. I had to wait for them for 3 months and when they finally sent me the final offer it was not what I expected. They said they'd offered me housing which is one of the unit they sell and that I could eat at the cafeteria for free too, but that the could only offer me a very low salary, as the real job would just be available in two months from now. I accept it, as I have already turned down the other offers. The apartment is really nice, but what they told me would be training it is just pure work. My boss just asked me to do things and to organize the work with the rest of them team. I had to do market research, aniline our competitor, and I have the full office schedule from 9 am to 6 pm, sometimes more. Yesterday they paid my first salary and I was kind of frustrated. Even one day we had to travel for an event and I worked the entire day until 11 pm. I don't know but I have a feeling they're exploiting me. What can I do? I have received zero training so far. |

I would go home.
Life is too short to be miserable and exploited. |

I would have a brief chat with the boss about when the official job starts along with a higher salary and if what you are doing now is their training program. It might still work out. If you get vague or negative answers then you can decide what to do. Good luck and best wishes.

Thank you guys! Yes, life is too short to stay miserable. I think that talking to my boss could be a good idea.

Yes speak to your boss but weigh up the pros and cons.
If you're eating for free, and you've been given nice accomodation - those things would be quite expensive if you were paying for them. So you'd need to weigh up what it would cost you if they didn't pay for that and what you'd be paying direct for those two things. |

You're very right. That's why I haven't spoken to my boss yet. The accommodation is really nice, they pay all the bill including power, water and Internet. I have free lunch meals. They give like USD 500 that's for the rest of the expenses. It doesn't cover everything, only my food. I think I will wait another month to see what happened. Thank you guys |

From a labor law perspective, was that for 1 week or 2? And what other expenses are you to cover if housing and food are provided? Did they give you a written contract?
