How do I, or would I, end a friendship “kindly”?

I don’t want to do this, I rarely want to or need to do this (fortunately)

But how do you end a friendship kindly (not just an acquaintance)

Having been brought up by bears I seem to have missed out on some life skills

Thanks

I think that a lot would depend on how long and how close this friendship has been.

It's hard to do in words, without being hurtful, I think.

The first thing, I suppose, is to try and fade them out gently by no longer being available.

Hi there.I am in the same boat as you unfortunately.

I have been spacing out the amount of contact and am now up to 2 and 3 weeks before I will respond in any way.I plan on spacing it out until it just gradually fades away.

I normally don't worry about doing it "kindly", but this time, this person,I just don't have the heart to be mean or hurt this person.

How's that going fuzzy?

I caved and took a phone call.I have to make sure I don't next time because I really regretted it afterwards.

I agree with gently phasing it out. Good luck.

That’s a tough position to be in but if you feel that it’s best for you then do so. I would explain the circumstances and lay it out in detail in order fornthenothernperson to understamd where you’re coming from. It shows that it was well thought out on your end and at the same time that you respect the other person and you think they deserve an explanation to your action.

I agree - any former friend deserves respect if cutting ties...
