Love gives us freedom. No, I am not talking about romantic love; that is just one aspect of love. I am talking about the sincere love we grow learn... the love that replaces the bitterness and hatred; the love that grows in us with experience and gives another flower of hope with every heart break, betrayal and abandonment.
Life is about love, friendship and community; life is about caring for each other despite our differences. Life is not about the corner office, or expensive food or big homes; nor it is about competition, or revenge or validation and the self worth that comes with competing and crushing others.
Being able to love increases self worth, not the money, not the title, not the worldly possessions and certainly not the winning or wishing ill on others...
I want to love. I want to learn how to love and have compassion towards those who wronged me. I need love to break free from this jail.

Oh sweet Train, you know love already, for you know what tis not. Love yourself firstly, then share it with others. It's ok to not love those that wrong you. It is ok to be selective in whom you love. Be honest in how you love. You've got the soul for it, start with loving your own soul! Blessings be
Thanks for this!

I don't know how to do that. My self worth has hit rock bottom with each episode, each heart break, betrayal and abuse... I think I am a piece of worthless ****.

Most people on Earth feel worthless. I accept my worthlessness as commonplace. If everyone is worth nothing, then we're all the same.

Life is about those aspects, otherwise you would have not thought to yourself about whether those are aspects of life or not. But it is your choice whether you want those aspects to be a part of your life or not.
If people wronged you, do you really think they deserve your love?

This song has gotten me thorough a lot. It's about how love makes us miserable, and how we're not going to let it hurt us anymore.
Thanks for this!

Everyone deserves love, even those who wronged us.

Oh FallDuskTrain, I can feel the pain of isolation reading your words and I hope you find some solace in the responses here. Loving others starts with being able to love ourselves. I know this is hard but if we feel bad about ourselves that distorts everything we have to offer another person. I just want you to know I am thinking of you and wish I could find better words of comfort.

Hi FDT

I'm not sure that you need to have compassion towards those who have wronged you, but other than that I'd say that you have some excellent insight there FDT.
And..........I'm sorry if I'm wrong here.........but I'm thinking that you've been through a lot in your past inc. real bad experiences and they may be holding you back so perhaps working through and getting support with some of those things may be a real good start??

And.........I don't know whether trust may be an issue for you in what you want..........but I'd certainly say self-esteem is, and I'm so sorry you feel that way about yourself
Naturally that can be a very understandable feeling when you've been through experiences like you've talked about..........but that does not need to equate to you actually being all those things you think about yourself, in any way

So again sorry if I'm wrong but if not..........here to support you with those.........

And on a different aspect...........maybe one step at a time?? Maybe try to focus more on/or develop some of those aspects you can like or value if love right now seems too far away..........for instance even if you make a slight connection with someone today.......tomorrow........try to allow yourself to really like and value and feel valued by it.........try to allow yourself to feel more of a "warm" feeling from it (and feel proud of yourself!!!!)............and maybe over time that could take you a step closer to what you want to feel???
Just a thought...........

But..........excellent goal, and please do not give up on it..........if we can support you with it, we're here

Alison

I'm reminded of this song, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, by Sarah McLachlan.
I'd forgotten that this is like an anti-numbness pill! (so of course I'm reaching for the Kleenex now).

Thanks for this!
