I always hope a pretty girl specially decides to sit opposite of me, then will state at me because it is pleasant to her. Then will make eye contact. Then will attempt to talk to me. But of course that never happens. I don't live in a big city in the US, so public transport is very safe and I think groping is less of a problem. But in the back of my mind I always have this idea that woman don't feel safe around strange men and that I look creepy because I don't look happy and I cannot smile charmingly.
As a generality, I would say that people who actually look unhappy would strike me as less safe to be near than persons who look relaxed and at ease.

If you say think you look creepy, it sounds like you would give off troubling vibes regardless of whether you're handsome, ordinary or quite plain looking.

I notice you seem uninterested in non-pretty girls sitting next to you. Are you overly relying on public transport as a venue for interacting with young women?

Yes, I will usually sit next to a female before a male, and a well-dressed man before a slob.

Hygiene matters the most; other than that, i barely look at people's faces.

+1 and also if someone is completely crazy (you know what I mean - it is visible) then I do not sit next to such people because I know that I act as a magnet to such people, i.e. they would want to talk to me and I have done my share of listening and right now would rather stand in privacy than lend an ear

Using public transit is very rare for me, but I don't really care who I sit next to. That said, if I got weird vibes off anyone, I'd sit or stand elsewhere.
Thanks for this!
