My best friend and I had started trailing apart for quite some time. She has always had a LOT of issues. Extreme poverty. Possible bipolar disorder that has been undiagnosed. Grandiose thoughts about herself and her connection to God. Unrealistic ideas. Lack of maternal instincts at times with caring for her children. Major physical as well as mental disabilities. Not to mention she's become plain MEAN.

Anyway, she has really gone off the deep end this time. She decided to cut ties with friends she's had for 10+ years. Because God told her to. Yeah. I was LIVID. Sure, I didn't consider her my BFF anymore, but I didn't plan on CUTTING TIES.

I don't mean to vent too much, but I just wanted to share as I'm trying to release the negative feelings and move on. She send me a message last night asking for my help for something and that she thinks that God said it was okay timing to take me back as a friend. I didn't respond and after a couple hours went by, she said "Never mind. I don't think the timing is right. Sorry for the confusion."

Here is what I wrote (but won't send) to her:

"I’m still really hurt. I find it hard to believe that a loving God would tell you to CUT good friends out of your life. I have also witnessed your meanness with other people and I want nothing to do with that. I’m surprised you think I will want to just go back to being friends like nothing happened. I know you think I’m loyal to a fault like a dog, but I’m no fool.

"I really do wish you well. I hope you find help for your mental illness because you are delusional and probably bipolar. Be honest with
yourself and with doctors, and you can get the help you need. I wish healing for you. I wish health and happiness for you and your family. I’m sorry to have to say ”no more” but it’s clear that our friendship has run its course.

"You cut me out of your life and I have realized that I want nothing to do with you anymore until you have started seeing a psychiatrist again (AND have started being honest about your delusions) and have stopped being mean to people."

I want to say these things but I probably won't for the sake of keeping peace and keeping myself from engaging in a fight. How on earth can I get some healing from this? We were friends for 13 years.

Maybe if you can accept the fact that, yes, she's not quite on the same page as you and obviously has some form of mental illness or aberration in her mind, then it may help you overcome the pain. Whatever the case, hang in there, you'll be okay in the long run.
Thanks for this!
